IT ADMINISTRATOR 

 

This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of many of the organization’s Information Technology (IT) Assets including servers, desktops, laptops, tablets, cell phones, printers and other similar devices. This position maintains and troubleshoots all of the organization’s computer systems.  This position is responsible for evaluating the life cycle of such assets, researching and evaluating replacement/upgrade options, managing vendor and support contractors for such assets, and assisting in the budgeting and purchasing of such assets.  It provides training and instruction to staff on software and operating systems.  This position also configures and maintains the organization’s Unified Communication systems, as well as building security systems and IT Asset tracking system.

This posi­tion requires sound technical knowledge, a high level of proficiency with Microsoft products such as operating systems and general office products.  The IT Administrator is expected to stay technically current to ensure HealthTrust remains up-to-date with the latest technology. This position is also expected to exercise considerable independent judgment and initia­tive in the conduct of the work and in the resolution of difficulties.

Work is assigned on the basis of general guidance and direc­tion by the Infrastructure and Security Manager.  Daily verbal and electronic updates are provided to the Infrastructure and Security Manager as well as weekly project updates reports. 

  1. Develops, together with the Infrastructure and Security Manager, the configuration requirements and builds protocols for all IT Assets including servers, personal computers, printers, phones, mobile, security related and other electronic devices.  Implements, maintains, and ensures compliance of those assets with configuration requirements and builds protocols as necessary to meet the organization’s needs while ensuring consistency and security for the organization.
  2. Responsible for the IT Asset Tracking Database and system. Manages all IT Assets including tracking assignments, current protocols, device locations and re-use and disposal processes.  Ensures timely documentation of all inventory changes in the IT Asset Tracking Database.
  3. Maintains security, compatibility, and standardization of organization’s IT assets:
    1. Ensures all security tools as required per the documented protocols (endpoint threat protection, encryption, monitoring and wiping tools, etc.) on each IT Asset are current including all updates and patches.
    2. Installs, upgrades, and evaluates software as needed; assures hardware compatibility.
    3. Creates and stores standardized computer system images for deployment, backup and recovery using Imaging Software.
       
  4. Conducts semi-annual audits and reconciliations of all physical IT Assets with IT Asset Tracking Database. Maintains up to date lists of purchased and issued end user software licenses.
  5. Evaluates life cycle/useful life of IT assets and determines needed IT Asset refresh, upgrades and replacement based on such analysis. Assists in creation of budgets for such periodic IT asset refresh/upgrade process.
  6. Responsible for primary Help Desk support.  Utilizes IT tracking software to manage inquiries.  Position is required to utilize strong written and verbal skills to maintain positive relationships with staff while providing exemplary, timely customer service. Shares off-hours monitoring tasks with other members of the team. Expected to work off-hours as needed to support the diagnosis and correction of urgent issues.
  7. Configures and maintains the organization’s Unified Communication systems, audio/video set-ups for conference rooms, and manages relationship with the applicable third party vendors associated with each.
  8. Assists Senior Systems Engineer with:
    1. Active Directory and Unified Communication systems administration.
    2. Server patching.
    3. Backups/Restores.
    4. Integration of projects with new and existing systems.
    5. Monitoring operational status of core systems.
       
  9. Documents technical procedures for both the Infrastructure and Security Department and end users.
  10. Works with the HIPAA Security and Privacy Officer to identify and mitigate information technology risks to the security of protected health information including suggesting improved processes or tools, reporting identified risks, and implementing additional controls when necessary.
  11. Performs other related duties as required.

Associate’s degree in related field preferred. Certifications in system and/or network security such as A+ and Security+ are highly desired.  At least three years of prior experience in Information Technology system administration and support.
