HealthTrust Response to Anthem and St. Joseph Hospital Negotiations -- UPDATE

HealthTrust cares about controlling healthcare costs. As a nonprofit risk pool, the costs charged by providers directly affects the costs our Members and Covered Individuals pay, both in premium contributions and in cost-share.

St. Joseph Hospital is already one of the most expensive hospitals in New Hampshire and it is our understanding that they are now demanding to drastically increase the prices they charge patients covered by Anthem. HealthTrust is supportive of Anthem’s efforts to control rising costs by offering fair and reasonable payments that are in-line with other New Hampshire providers.

Next Steps for Impacted Individuals:

Anthem’s current contract with St. Joseph Hospital ended December 31, 2024. State law automatically extends the existing reimbursement terms for 60 days after the contract ends. That means that HealthTrust Covered Individuals may continue to seek care at St. Joseph Hospital as they have in the past while Anthem continues to work in good faith with St. Joseph Hospital to reach an agreement before March 1, 2025. Services and care received at St. Joseph Hospital and from its physicians, providers, and facilities will continue to be paid as in-network through March 1, 2025.  Importantly, this does not impact retirees enrolled in HealthTrust’s Medicare Advantage with Prescription Drug (MAPD) plan.

In the coming weeks, Anthem will be sending letters directly to all impacted HealthTrust Covered Individuals.
